A 16-1 mux requires four selection lines say A,B,C,D and 16 input lines say D0,D1,....D15. The 8-1 multiplexers choose selection lines B,C,D and the input lines of 1st 8-1 mux are D0,D1,...D7 and the input lines of 2nd 8-1 mux are D8,D9,...D15.The output of 8-1 multiplexers are given as the input of 2-1 mux and the selection line is A.The output of this 2-1 mux gives the output of the 16-1 mux.
